Avid traveller and nature lover, Andhy Blake, is a self-confessed work horse.

The new face of Captain Cook Cruises, he has come a long way from his early days in fashion.

Now a brand ambassador for the Australian-owned cruise operator, Andhy – as he prefers – has big plans to further the interests of his new employer.

But he’s keeping his cards close to his chest for now.

Formerly, a senior television producer at Mai TV, he has over 15 years’ experience as a content and production in Fiji and New Zealand.

“I feature across Mai TV programmes such as The Pulse with Andhy Blake and on Fiji Airways in-flight entertainment, promoting tourism destinations of Fiji,” he said.

Where would you take friends to?

Kiuva Beach, Tailevu.

This gem of a picnic spot is the ideal location to unwind, and is perched just outside Nausori Town.

It also holds a lot of historic significance to Fiji – where the first airplane took off from after arriving at Albert Park in Suva in 1928.

I’d take friends there for a casual picnic and seafood lunch.

What is your favourite spot for a coffee or pie?

Nausori market.

I am not a cafe type of guy, preferring to visit the Nausori market on Saturday to purchase tasty bila (fermented cassava pastry) from Ana Tuisese.

I enjoy this delicious Tailevu delicacy on the porch at home with a strong cup of sweet, white tea.

What is your favourite backyard spot?

Nausori Town.

With the hectic work and travel commitments, I prefer the quiet and quaint township of my hometown, Nausori.

Whenever I am home, I enjoy strolling through the town on a Saturday morning, while enjoying a good spot of window shopping.

Later, I will enjoy either freshly cooked seafood from Sera Ranadi at the Nausori Market or sui from Elvis Kana Place.

What is one place in Fiji that is on your bucket list?

Lau.

I left my heart there.

The province of Lau and her islands will always rank high as the most beautiful places visited.

I sailed to Lau on Captain Cook Cruises Fiji about six times, and still can’t get enough.

I am from the village of Vunimono in the Tailevu Province with blood ties to the village of Sawana in Vanuabalavu, Lau.
